The mighty Magneto in his Marvel Now! white costume taking on a pack of Sentinels!
This one was created for my Patreon page and was hand drawn on bristol board and then a few highlights were added in Photoshop. The original piece of artwork has just been added to our store, and can be found here – http://www.reddlife.com/shop/
Hope you like it! 🙂
Introducing the elves – Ella at the front of the picture and Font at the back riding on Barry. 😀
This one started life as an inked piece of line art –
And ended up in Photoshop for colouring. I went for a lot of nice inked textures, especially on Barry and then once again opted for an animated look with the colours.
We have merchandise featuring this piece available on our Redbubble store – everything thing from clothing to phone cases and clocks. You know you need the EllaFontElves in your life! – Check it out here – EllaFontElves Merch
Let us know what you think and if you would like to see more of Ella, Font and of course Barry in the comments.
Magik – Illyana Rasputin of the X-Men
I’ve been experimenting with digital artwork recently and it’s something that I’m going to be working on a lot going forward. The possibilities excite me and the work is proving to be the very satisfying as well as challenging – and I do love a challenge.
I still love working traditionally of course and one of my favourite ways of working is creating inked line art. I enjoy the control I have over the pens on the paper, I find the process soothing even if it does make my hands ache like mad. I’ve been told most artists are masochists, maybe it’s true. 😉
I thought it would be fun to combine my hand drawn inks with digital colouring and so went about drawing this image of Magik –
(The original inked artwork is currently available to buy in our store – http://www.reddlife.com/shop/)
She has always been a very interesting character and her current costume design is one of my favourites. I very much wanted to create a cartoonish / manga-esque image of her with detailed ink work for texturing.
I then took it to Photoshop and after playing around I decided I wanted a more animated look to the colours. I can do realism with traditional media and was enjoying the different feel of the digital effects. I had a lot of fun working on this and even decided to throw in some random textures from photos I took just to see what would happen –
I’m really pleased with the results, even though I know I would do a few things differently if I did it again. I’d love to know what other people think so please feel free to leave a comment on this post.
More artwork and experimentation to come.
